Born again is not in the Greek manuscripts ; The correct translation is, "born from above".
Many pastors will tell you different, because they don't know how to brake down the original languages.
WHAT BORN FROM ABOVE MEANS ?
It means, everyone came from above ; we have to be born of a woman and pass through this flesh age once.
To understand this you must know about the three world ages (II Peter 3) ; The first age = Dinosaurs (no flesh men) ; Second = The flesh age ; Third = Eternity.
THERE WAS A DESTRUCTION OF THE FIRST EARTH AGE.
"And the earth was without form (Gen. 1:2) is not correct. The Hebrew says, "And the earth became without form (tohu va bohu).
Something happened to cause the destruction of the first earth age (For more detail see, THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE WORLD).
Satan fell from grace and stopped loving God (Ezekiel 28) ; he wanted to be God.
He took one third of God's children with him (Rev. 12:3-4), and God did not want to destroy one third of His children (we were in angelic forms ; the flesh man was not created yet), therefore, He decided to destroy that age, erase our memories, and give us a choice ; to choose Him or the devil.
Some refused to be born of a woman, and instead they came to seduce women (Gen. 6). Giants (Geber) were born and God had to destroy this unholy mixing. Therefore, He brought in Noah's flood. But there was a second irruption and the Israelites had to destroy them.
God condemned these "fallen angels" (Nephilim) to death (Jude). They are coming to seduce women again, in the near future (Matt. 24:37-39). However, Christ will destroy them upon His return (Rev. 11:13 ; they are seven thousand of them).
LET'S GO TO THE NEW TESTAMENT.
John 3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews :
PHARISEES = THE WORD PHARISEE IS THE HEBREW FOR ONE WHO WAS SEPARATED BY SPECIAL BELIEFS AND PRACTICES, WHICH WERE VERY STRICT AS TO TITHING AND EATING,.
DOCTRINALLY, THEY HELD THAT THE ORAL LAW WAS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE AND EXPLAIN THE WRITTEN LAW ; HENCE, THE STRONG DENUNCIATIONS OF THE LORD. THEY BELIEVED IN LIFE AFTER DEATH (THE SADDUCEES DID NOT).
MANY KENITES (SATAN'S OFFSPRING ; THEY ALSO CALL THEMSELVES JEWS) WERE AMONG THEM ; NICODEMUS AND PAUL (HE WAS A PHARISEE) WERE NOT.
3:2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto Him, "Rabbi (teacher), we know that Thou art a teacher come from God : for no man can do these miracles that Thou doest, except God be with him."
3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, "Verily (truly), verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
BORN AGAIN = BORN FROM ABOVE (ANOTHEN IN THE GREEK).
WE WERE ALL WITH THE FATHER, AND MUST BE BORN OF A WOMAN IN THE FLESH ONCE.
3:4 Nicodemus saith unto Him, "How can a man be born when he is old ? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born ?
3:5 Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
IN OTHER WORDS, UNLESS YOU ARE BORN IN A BAG OF WATER YOU CANNOT HAVE ETERNITY.
3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh ; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
WE HAVE TWO BODIES ; THE EARTHLY AND THE SPIRITUAL (I COR. 15:35-52).
WHEN WE DIE, THE EARTHLY GOES BACK TO THE GROUND, AND THE SPIRITUAL GOES BACK TO THE FATHER (ECCL. 12) WHO GAVE IT.
3:7 Marvel not that I said unto Thee, Ye must be born again.
3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth : so is every one that is born of the Spirit."
WE CAN'T SEE THE SPIRIT (GOD) BECAUSE WE ARE IN THE FLESH ; WE CANNOT ENTER THAT DIMENSION (I COR. 15:50).
3:9 Nicodemus answered and said unto Him, "How can these things be ?"
WHAT DO YOU MEAN ?
3:10 Jesus answered and said unto him, "Art thou a master (teacher) of Israel, and knowest not these things ?
HE WAS A RELIGIOUS LEADER, THEREFORE, HE SHOULD KNOW ALL OF THESE THINGS.
3:11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen ; and ye receive not our witness.
IN OTHER WORDS, WE SPEAK OF A SPIRIT YOU CAN'T SEE. YOU HAVE TO HAVE FAITH TO BELIEVE IT.
3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things ?
3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but He That came down from heaven, even the Son of man Which is in heaven.
NO MAN CAN ASCEND BACK TO HEAVEN WHEN THE FLESH BODY DIES, EXCEPT HE CAME FROM THERE.
NOTE : Learn how to rightly divide the word of God so you are able to understand it.
The English has many errors, and unless you know how to brake the languages down (the Strong's Concordance, and the Smith's Bible dictionary, are excellent choices for the English speaking individual) , you will have difficult time understanding.
Pray for guidance, on finding a pastor or a teacher who is biblical literate and help you study for yourself ; A pastor should raise your level of thinking.
